This is a large Tully and Sons telescope. Tully and Sons was from England. They were the happening telescope company from the error of late 1700 through the mid 1800 s.

Since telescope making was new, there weren't very many Optical companies making telescopes, especially in this early age, since they had just been invented. Following Tully & Sons other fewvcompanies arose. They were exactly in the same business district. Broadhurst and Clarkson, sprung from Tully and took up the Baton in telescope making in the 1860s. Broadhurst in Clarkson started making large astronomical telescopes. later on, in the late 1880s Broadhurst and Clarkson became Clarkson and Sons. Zeis and others sprung up. Tully in Sons happens to be the oldest one, and it originated as Tully telescope, later becoming Tully & Sons in the 1820's.

This telescope dates from that timer, and most likely is from about 1825. It is nearly 200 years old. The condition is exceptional. There are no dentst or gouges on the metal, or brass, no broken glass or mechanisms, and no gouges or scratches on the wood. The leather, fitted case is in great condition, and has protected the telescope itself for just about 200 years. I have only seen one similar telescope by Broadhurst and Clarkson.

This is a museum quality instrument, in unbelievable condition. The wood is still smooth, and mahogany has nice original finish. It is about 4 feet in length and 60 to 65mm lens. If one cleaned the telescope, which is not recommended, I suppose it would look new and undamaged. I will consider serious offers or trades.
