Meade 6" F/8 LXD55 Achromatic Refractor

This telescope was purchased in 2002 or 2003. It has been out of the box only 3 or 4 times and has been stored, sealed, in a heated, dry basement since mid 2005.

I will ship, at purchaser's expense, if requested.

Photos are of the actual telescope. The last picture is the product label attached to the barrel of the scope.

Manufacturer's description:
Meade LXD55-Series telescopes provide a new level of sophistication and precision at a moderate price. All five models of the series, including three Schmidt-Newtonians and two achromatic refractors, include the exclusive Meade LXD55 equatorial mount with Autostar control system.

Meade 6" LXD55 AR-6 Achromatic Refracting Telescope provide a new level of sophistication and precision at a moderate price. A revelation of advanced electronic and software design, the exclusive patented Meade Autostar system, included as standard equipment for Meade 6" LXD55 AR-6 Achromatic Refracting Telescope, such advantage permits an amazing range of capabilities never before offered on telescopes in this price and aperture class. Meade 6" LXD55 AR-6 Achromatic Refracting Telescope comes with objective lenses that resolve to the theoretical limits for their apertures, Meade 6" LXD55 refractors present all of the diffraction-limited optical performance obtainable from the classical 2-element achromat design. Deep-space images, in particular, are rich in resolution and contrast, with a minimum of chromatic aberration.

Features of Meade 6" LXD55 AR-6 Achromatic Refracting Telescope:

Model AR-6: 6" f/8 Achromatic Refractor " The Meade 6" LXD55 refractor, with 44% more light-collecting power than the 5" model, permits a much wider imaging capability. Deep-space objects, from bright galaxies like Andromeda (M31) to faint nebulae like NGC 6559 in Sagittarius and thousands of other galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters in between, take on added brightness and resolution of form and structure. Globular star clusters, such as M13 in Hercules, are better resolved, often to the core of the cluster. Significantly increased detail is visible on the Moon and planets; double stars may be split to the telescope's 0.74-arc sec. limit.

Autostar Dual-Axis Electronic Control System: Locate any of 30,223 celestial objects in the Autostar database automatically at a push of the GO TO button.

Photo is of a reflector, not a refractor. Might be nice if you took a photo of thr actual telescope. I COULD be interested.

Thanks for your comment. I cut the picture from the Meade fact sheet describing the exact model I own. The telescope is currently sealed in its packing boxes and is too heavy for me to lift. If you think you do have serious interest I will find someone to unpack it and take a photo for you. Please let me know.

No. That's okay. If that is a photo of the exact model, I'm not interested in owning yet another reflecting type telescope. Thanks for the quick response.

It is a refractor.... Meade 6" F/8 LXD55 Achromatic Refractor

You may be right that the picture is incorrect. A different picture came up when I googled it this morning. Someone is coming to unpack it for me today, and I will take a actual picture.

Here are the specs.
